Keith Maldon Laity

"The Only Man to Turn On The Beer in All Three Pubs."

If you knew Keith Laity, then you would know that this man had style.
His dress, his manner, his car (a Lincoln Zephyr V-12), .....style!

When his lovely wife, Myra, came into some good luck in the 1970's, Keith rang the publicans of all 3 Maldon hotels and told them to "turn on the beer" for the drinkers in the bars - the only time it has ever been done.

Keith was also one of that rare breed with the name "Maldon". Another one was William Maldon Woodfull, famous Australian cricket captain who led our country's team to win the Ashes from England - twice. For some time Keith believed that Bill Woodfull and himself were the only ones to have the name, but he later learned that there were several others.

Sadly, Keith Maldon Laity died in April 2001, aged 91,
and the town of Maldon suffered a great loss.
